Meet Jessica
A LEADER FOR A NEW GENERATION
After moving to Mecklenburg County in 2019, my husband and I quickly fell in love with our new home. Soon after settling in, I joined the Climate Reality Project and Sunrise Movement and began taking on more responsibility as I became more entrenched in our community.
Throughout the pandemic, I helped organize for climate and racial justice, both virtually and, eventually, in person. Throughout the past six years, I’ve helped organize marches, door-knocked, gathered petition signatures, and relentlessly strived to create a safe and healthy community for all people.
My community is what pushes me to help build a greater future for Mecklenburg County. My friends and neighbors inspire me every day to be the best version of myself and are truly representative of how special our county is. Because of the people I’ve befriended, worked beside, and marched with, I am deeply dedicated to justice and activism in my work.
As the former co-coordinator of the Charlotte hub of the Sunrise Movement, the former secretary of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg NAACP, and active member of the JVP Charlotte pod, I will fight every day to ensure we provide justice for all and create a thriving community in Mecklenburg County.
